HOWTO Update the Linux-HA Web Site

The content from Linux-HA web site at http://linux-ha.org/ is stored in our MoinMoin wiki at http://wiki.linux-ha.org/. For a page named, for example ContactUs, the editable content is stored at http://wiki.linux-ha.org/ContactUs and presented through the web site at http://linux-ha.org/ContactUs using a process we call WikiTransclusion.

In other words, all page updates happen on the wiki site, and are then displayed through the web site. To update a page on the web site, you have to update the corresponding page on the wiki site. Because of wiki spammers, we do not allow anonymous updates to our wiki site, so you have to log in to update the web site.

Before you log in, you need to create an account for yourself.

The linux-ha.org (or www.linux-ha.org) site has a persistent cache of data taken from the wiki site, and content is not automatically refreshed in the linux-ha.org site. After you update a page, you have to force a cache flush manually. To do that, follow these steps:

1. If you haven't already done so, create a wiki account for yourself (only need to do this once)
2. If you aren't currently logged in to the wiki, then log into the wiki (typically only need to do this once)

3. Update the page of interest, say FooBar on wiki.linux-ha.org

4. Go to the corresponding page in linux-ha.org, in this case linux-ha.org/FooBar

5. Reload the page using shift-reload - hold down the shift key while pressing the reload button in your browser.

Translations

The Linux-HA web site supports the pages being in many languages.

There is a simple naming convention that makes this all work. This naming convention is based on ISO language naming conventions. Here are a few ISO language naming abbreviations:

• ja - Japanese - ja/HomePage_ja

• ru - Russian - ru/HomePage_ru

• de - German

• es - Spanish

• it - Italian

• zh - Chinese

• pt - Portuguese

• pt_BR - Brazilan Portuguese

For the main site page HomePage, the corresponding Chinese page is named zh/HomePage_zh.

If the web site software can't find a page named zh/PageFooter_zh then it will substitute the page named PageFooter instead. This allows you to make links to everything in your new language and then add them as you create them - and the links will all work and point to the English version of the pages until you get around to replacing these pages with translated pages in your language.

NOTE

This feature of page replacement by English language pages does not work on the wiki.linux-ha.org/ site, only on the linux-ha.org/ site.
